I embarked on an epic three-month adventure following the Olympic torch relay around England in a vintage camper van called Rosie. I slept in it nearly every night for 10 weeks and experienced everything that England had to throw at me, from bungee jumping and hot-air ballooning to museums, surfing, pie-making and llama trekking. By the time the Olympic torch arrived at the opening ceremony, I had travelled 5,121 miles in Rosie. Thankfully there were only six wrong turns and reliable Rosie only broke down once – not bad going for a vehicle older than me' Photograph: rachmotormouth/GuardianWitnessCamper parked in the rain: 'It caught my 16-year-old daughter's eye.
