Apple's iOS 18 software, the company's latest and greatest iPhone software, brings with it a host of upgrades and new features to all of Apple's best iPhones. While you might need Apple's iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max to use Apple's incredible new Apple Intelligence features, you certainly don't need a brand-new iPhone to get the rest of iOS 18's new features.
Apple has continued its tradition of device longevity by enabling iOS 18 support for every device that can run iOS 17. So if you're currently running Apple's most up-to-date software, you'll get iOS 18 support in September. You can also download the iOS 18 developer beta right now, but we wouldn't recommend that unless you know what you're doing!

As noted, that will get you access to iOS 18, but if you want to use Apple Intelligence when it comes available as a beta this fall, you will need Apple's iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
When is iOS 18 coming out?
iOS 18 is available as a developer beta now, and will be launched officially to the public in the fall. This usually happens in September alongside the launch of the new iPhone.
