A popular snack bar have announced their sad closure due to rising energy bills and cost of food supplies.

Maxi B’s Snack Bar, on Ayr’s Taylor Street, are pulling down the shutters today marking the final day of trading.

The eatery are known for their Yorkshire pudding wraps - which are stuffed with mashed and roast potatoes, vegetables, sausages, a choice of roast turkey or roast beef, and smothered in rich gravy.

Customers can still get their hands on the giant roast dinner wraps up until closing time today.

Loaded nachos, stacked burgers and filled wraps are also among the delicious dishes which made the snack van so popular.

A post on Maxi B’s Facebook page confirmed the closure and said: “It is with deep regret that we have made the difficult decision to close Maxi B’s Snack Bar due to the rising costs of food, gas and electric.

“We have tried to be reasonable with pricing throughout, however we cannot expect customers to adapt to the price increases needed to make a viable business when gas and electric alone for ONE MONTH is FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS.

“We would like to thank Alex for trusting us and helping make our shop as busy as it was! As well as thank you to Sam who joined us laterally.

“Your efforts are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.

“Finally, thank you for everyone’s support and custom during our time on Taylor Street, especially when times have been so tough!

“We have enjoyed our time but unfortunately it is time to close the doors.”
