Those hoping to bag a spot on the start line are advised to apply before 10am on Monday, February 20 when the ballot entry system will close for this year. Runners will find out whether or not they’ve been successful via email when the ballot is drawn next week.

Chief Executive Paul Foster said, “2023 is shaping up to be another epic year for the AJ Bell Great North Run. We were delighted to confirm at the start of the week that the incredible Eilish McColgan would be lining up on the Central Motorway in September.
"We have also confirmed this week that the Red Arrows will be back for their Tyne Bridge flypast and display at South Shields.”
The AJ Bell Great North Run is the world’s largest half marathon and the UK’s biggest running event, with 60,000 entrants. The event, which also boasts a world-class elite race, raises millions for charity each year and is televised live on the BBC, as well as in 169 territories around the world.
