Last chance to buy Fallout 4 with huge discount on PS5 before next-gen update

PlayStation 5 owners have until just before midnight tonight to grab a massive discount on Fallout 4, ahead of its hotly anticipated next-gen update.

The post-apocalyptic action game is currently just £4 on the PlayStation Store, thanks to a meaty 75 percent markdown. That’s considerably cheaper than its price on Xbox and Steam.

You can already download and play Fallout 4 for no extra cost if you have a PS Plus Extra or Plus subscription. That said, it may still be worth purchasing, especially if you plan on cancelling your membership down the line.

However, buying it is a bit tricky for subscribers. You won’t see the option on the PS Store on consoles if you can already access it on PS Plus. Instead, you can grab it from the desktop version of the store and download it to your library. The process is a lot more straightforward for everyone else.

Bethesda has gone on a marketing blitz for its sci-fi gaming series in conjunction with the release of the Fallout live-action show on Amazon earlier this month. We’ve already seen the launch of a Fallout anthology collection of all the games, which come packaged in a mini-nuclear bomb replica.

There have also been free play days for Fallout 76, the latest installment in the retro-futuristic saga, on consoles and PC.

The promotional extravaganza will culminate with the release of the Fallout 4 next-gen update tomorrow (April 25). For console players, that means improved visuals by way of a performance mode and quality mode on PS5 and Xbox Series systems. There’s also 60 fps support and a pile of new content aimed at new and returning players alike.

An upshot of the update has been the indefinite delay of the ambitious Fallout London mod, a fan-made expansion that brings the action to the UK capital.
