Las Vegas Strip casino signs huge rock star to residency

The Las Vegas Strip's most spectacular venue for music headliners is Sphere Entertainment's  (SPHR)  $2.3 billion Sphere which opened Sept. 29, 2023, with superstar rock band U2 taking the stage for its 40-show U2/UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere residency.

U2 wrapped up its residency March 2 and was followed by popular jam band Phish with four shows April 18-21. Phish's mini-residency, or limited engagement, concluded and was replaced with the current ultimate jam band Dead & Company, which took the stage for a 24-show Dead Forever Live at Sphere residency beginning May 16 and set to finish July 13.

Verified resale tickets at Ticketmaster for the upcoming Dead & Co. May 24 show are currently priced as low as about $139 for Section 409, Row 6 as of May 21.

Sphere's major competitors on the Strip are publicly traded hotel casino operators MGM Resorts International  (MGM) , Caesars Entertainment  (CZR)  and Wynn Resorts  (WYNN) . These casino operators keep their theaters booked with some of the hottest acts in entertainment.

Classic R&B group New Edition, which performed six sold-out shows on the Strip at Wynn's Encore Theater in February and March, will return for six more shows at the casino in July.

Country stars are popular on the Strip as well. Shania Twain's Come On Over residency continues at Caesars Entertainment's Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood with shows in May, August, September, November and December. 

Carrie Underwood's Reflection residency hits the stage at Resorts World Las Vegas in May, June, August and October, and Garth Brooks' Plus One residency runs at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace June, July, September, October and December.

A couple of guaranteed sellout pop star residencies are also scheduled on the Strip.

Caesars' Colosseum at Caesars Palace has hosted superstar singer Adele's "Weekends With Adele" residency since its opening in November 2022. The "Hello" singer will wrap up the 100-show residency with 10 rescheduled shows from Oct. 25 to Nov. 23.

Huge star Lady Gaga's Jazz & Piano residency will continue at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas, which continues June 19, 20, 27, 29, 30, July 3, 5 and 6. Lady Gaga said during a Sept. 7, 2023, performance at Park MGM Dolby Live that she wanted her residency to last "forever."

For classic rock fans, Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band is set for six shows on May 22, 25, 26, 29, 31 and June 1 at Apollo Global Management's  (APO)  Venetian Theater at the Venetian Las Vegas.

Lenny Kravitz opens his first residency on the Strip

The Strip's newest show is superstar rocker Lenny Kravitz, who debuts his first residency on the Strip with Blue Electric Light Las Vegas at MGM Resorts International's Dolby Live at Park MGM Oct. 18, 19, 23, 25 and 26.

Citi Cardmember and Official Platinum presales began May 21 and end May 23 at 10 p.m., while the artist presale begins May 22 at 10 a.m. Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Media and SiriusXM presales begin May 23 at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public at Ticketmaster.com on May 24 at 10 a.m.

The "Are You Gonna Go My Way" singer will begin his Las Vegas shows after completing his European tour that begins June 23 in Hamburg, Germany, and concludes Aug. 15-16 in Monte Carlo.

Kravitz's tour and Las Vegas Strip residency will promote his 12th studio album "Blue Electric Light," which will be released May 24. The Grammy Award winner's 11 previous albums have sold over 40 million copies.
