Las Vegas Strip casinos sign music superstar to new residency

The Las Vegas Strip has been the top destination for some of the music industry's biggest stars for decades. Visitors to Sin City today can enjoy a number of superstar headliners performing pop, rock, country, jazz, rhythm and blues and Broadway shows.

For rock fans, Grateful Dead spinoff band Dead & Company is performing a residency at Sphere Entertainment's  (SPHR)  Sphere Las Vegas through Aug. 10.

The ultimate jam band will be followed at the Sphere by legendary rock band The Eagles who fly into the spectacular venue for 12 shows Sept. 20, 21, 27, 28, Oct. 11, 12, 18, 19, Nov. 1, 2, 8 and 9.

Country fans can catch Carrie Underwood's "Reflection" residency for six shows in August and another six in October, or Shania Twain's "Come On Over" residency for 16 shows over August, September, November and December.

Garth Brooks will perform 27 shows on his Plus One residency beginning June 26, and continuing through July, September, October and December at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

R&B fans can see superstar singers New Edition for nine shows in July, October and November at the Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas or Boyz II Men Aug. 23, 24, 30 and 31 at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.

When it comes to hip-hop and rap, big name residencies have been scarce on the Strip or anywhere else in Vegas. Wu-Tang Clan performed what is considered Sin City's first hip-hop residency at the Theater at Virgin Hotels Feb. 9-10 and March 22-23, 2024.

And now, the biggest rap headliner to perform on the Strip so far has lined up an unusual residency.

Rapper Lil Wayne headlines dual Vegas residency

Superstar rapper Lil Wayne headlines a rare dual residency at rival casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, as he takes the stage at Drai's Nightclub in Caesars Entertainment's The Cromwell beginning on June 29 for an 11:30 p.m. show and resumes the residency on July 12 at 10:30 p.m. at Zouk Las Vegas in Genting Group's Resorts World Las Vegas. Additional shows have not yet been revealed.

More bankruptcy:

The residency structure is the first for The Cromwell and Resorts World, according to a statement from Resorts World.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Lil Wayne to Zouk Las Vegas," Zouk Vice President Joe Lopez said in a statement. "His dynamic performances and legendary status make him the perfect  artist to launch this transformative residency. We look forward to providing an unparalleled nightlife experience for all to enjoy this monumental artist."

Dustin Drai, president of Drai's Management Group, also looks forward to welcoming Lil Wayne back to Drai's Nightclub. Lil Wayne was most recently scheduled to perform May 4 at the 2024 Lovers & Friends Festival at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, but the festival was cancelled the day before the show because of high winds. The iconic rapper instead performed a surprise concert May 4 at Drai's Nightclub.

"We cannot wait to continue our longstanding relationship with Lil Wayne and have him return as a resident artist at Drai’s," Drai said. "We could not align with a more dynamic artist to welcome this debut residency partnership."

Tickets and table reservations for Lil Wayne's shows are available at the respective nightclubs or their websites Zoukgrouplv.com or Draisgroup.com.
