Las Vegas Strip casino closes pop superstar residency

Las Vegas headliner residencies eventually have an end date, although there are a few current shows that never seem to end.

Penn & Teller's magic, illusion and comedy act is currently the longest running show in Las Vegas, having arrived on the Strip 30 years ago before switching over to the off-Strip Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in 2001. The iconic Vegas duo will be around for years to come as they have extended their residency until 2026.

1970s pop superstar Barry Manilow in February 2005 arrived at the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas, formerly the International Hotel and Las Vegas Hilton, and broke Elvis' record of 636 consecutive sold-out shows in September 2023.

Manilow will be around for another year as he has extended his historic engagement by 48 more dates at the International Theater from Feb. 13 through Dec. 13, 2025.

If Las Vegas visitors have a nostalgic streak in themselves, a couple of iconic Strip performers are set to perform until the end of the year.

1970s teen idol Donny Osmond and Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton continue their long-running residencies with Osmond performing on the Strip at Harrah's Las Vegas Showroom through Nov. 16, 2024, and Newton taking the stage at the Flamingo's Bugsy's Cabaret Showroom through Dec. 30, 2024.

Several major Vegas residencies, however, have closed this year. U2 ended the historic first residency at Sphere Entertainment's  (SPHR)  Sphere on March 2 and Lady Gaga closed her Jazz & Piano residency at Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM on July 6.

Country stars also wrapped up residencies with Luke Bryan ending his engagement at Resorts World on Jan. 6 and Miranda Lambert closing her "Velvet Rodeo" residency at Planet Hollywood on April 6.

Superstar pop singer Christina Aguilera launched her Las Vegas Strip residency at Voltaire in Apollo Global Management's  (APO)  the Venetian Resort Las Vegas on New Year's Eve weekend Dec. 30-31, 2023, to sellout crowds.

More Las Vegas:

Aguilera became the second residency headliner to perform at Voltaire after popular global star Kylie Minogue opened the new cabaret-style nightclub on Nov. 3, 2023. Minogue would perform 20 shows before ending her residency on May 2.

The "Genie in a Bottle" singer, who postponed shows on the Jan. 5-6 weekend because of a case of the flu, rescheduled those shows in April and set an additional 10 shows for a total of 20 on her residency.

Christina Aguilera closes Vegas residency

Aguilera will follow Minogue's lead and complete her residency in 20 dates when she performs her last two shows on Aug. 30-31. Both shows only have general admission standing room tickets available at $200 per ticket.

Its unlikely that Aguilera will extend her residency anytime soon, as International Queen of Burlesque Dita Von Teese opens at Voltaire for a 44-show residency over 11 weekends beginning Sept. 19 and concluding Dec. 22, 2024.

“Dita Von Teese dazzles audiences around the world and is bringing something iconic and special to Voltaire,” Voltaire founder Michael Gruber said in an Aug. 13 statement. “Upon entering Voltaire, guests are transported to another era through the venue’s art deco design and cabaret setup, making it the perfect venue for Dita, her sparkling costumes, and effervescent charm.
