Las Vegas Strip has long been known for hosting some of the most legendary stars on its stages throughout history, including Liberace, Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack and Elvis Presley.
Pianist Liberace started performing in Las Vegas residencies in the 1940s and continued for over 40 years until his final show in August 1986 at Caesars Palace on the Strip. Frank Sinatra began his residencies in Las Vegas in the 1950s, and he would bring the Rat Pack to the Strip in the 1960 at the Sands Hotel and Casino, during the filming of the motion picture "Ocean's 11," featuring Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop.

Elvis Presley, who joined Liberace on stage in Vegas in 1956, began his Las Vegas Strip residencies in July 1969 at the International Hotel and would perform 636 sold-out shows through his final performance in Las Vegas on Dec. 12, 1976.
Elvis also filmed his 1963 motion picture "Viva Las Vegas" in Sin City, with some scenes filmed at the Flamingo Hotel on the Strip.
While all of those headliners have passed on and are just memories for those who may have seen them live, some Vegas headliners dating back to the 1960s are still around and performing on the Strip.
One of the most iconic entertainers in Las Vegas history has been performing as a headliner for over 60 years, after getting top bill for the first time 1963. Classic singer Wayne Newton, also known as Mr. Las Vegas, has been a mainstay in Sin City and has no plans to retire from the stage anytime soon. He might even be the hardest working headliner in Vegas.

Newton, who turned 82 on April 3, opened his "Wayne: Up Close and Personal" residency at the Wayne Newton Theater in Bugsy's Cabaret at the Flamingo Las Vegas in January 2022, but it has been extended four times until Dec. 30, 2024.

While Newton has been performing dozens of shows at the Flamingo, popular 1970s singer Barry Manilow set out to break an iconic record, Elvis Presley's sell-out record at what is now known as the International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas off the strip.
Manilow began performing at the Westgate in February 2005 and in September 2023 broke Elvis' record of 636 sell-outs. It took Manilow 18 years to break the sell-out mark, but Elvis set the record in only seven years of performing. He was The King, of course.
Tom Jones returns to the Strip for shows
A good friend of Elvis' is coming back to the Las Vegas Strip for a couple of shows in September.
Legendary pop singer Tom Jones returns to the Strip for two shows at Wynn Resorts' (WYNN) Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas on Sept. 27-28. Promoter AEG Presents will reveal more details and ticket information next week, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Jones last performed in Las Vegas on Oct. 7, 2022, at the Wynn on his "Surrounded by Time" tour. The iconic "It's Not Unusual" singer first performed on the Strip in 1967 at the Flamingo and became a perennial headliner in Vegas for decades. Jones was even in the audience when Elvis returned to the stage at the International Hotel in 1969 and received a huge applause when The King introduced his buddy.
