Las Vegas Strip casino brings back sensational singer residency

Las Vegas headliner residencies are often long-running engagements that star performers extend for dozens of shows.

Once star singers settle into the Las Vegas theaters with warm receptions from audiences, many of them, such as Adele or Lady Gaga, say they want to play those theaters forever. And some artists seem determined to follow through with their desires.

1970s pop superstar Barry Manilow began performing at the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas, formerly the International Hotel and Las Vegas Hilton, in February 2005 and broke Elvis' record of 636 consecutive sold-out shows in September 2023.

Manilow enjoyed his residency so much that he has extended his historic engagement by 48 more dates at the International Theater from Feb. 13 through Dec. 13, 2025.

Other classic Vegas headliners such as 1970s teen idol Donny Osmond and Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton continue their long-running residencies with Osmond performing on the Strip at Harrah's Las Vegas Showroom through Nov. 16, 2024, and Newton taking the stage at the Flamingo's Bugsy's Cabaret Showroom through Dec. 30, 2024.

U2 opened Sphere Entertainment's  (SPHR)  Sphere on Sept. 29 with its U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency and stretched the residency, which was originally set for 25 shows, to 40 shows and finished its historic initial Sphere engagement on March 2, 2024.

Legendary rock star Rod Stewart opened his "Hits" residency at Caesars Entertainment's  (CZR)  Colosseum at Caesars Palace in 2011, performing his classic hits in each show, including "Tonight's the Night," "Infatuation," "You Wear It Well," "The First Cut is the Deepest," and "Every Picture Tells a Story."

After 200 shows in 13 years, Stewart in early August completed his residency, but he can't stay away from the Sin City stage. The "Maggie May" singer has scheduled a new 12-show residency, "The Encore Shows," at the Colosseum set for March 12, 14, 15, 19, 21 22, and May 29, 31, June 1, 5, 7 and 8, 2025.

More Las Vegas:

Country star singer Carrie Underwood, who has nine shows scheduled this year at Resorts World Las Vegas on Aug. 21, 23, 24 and Oct. 16, 18, 19, 23, 25 and 26 has extended her popular "Reflection" residency into 2025 with the addition of six more shows March 26, 28, 29, April 2, 4 and 5.

Bruno Mars Extends Dolby Live residency

Finally, superstar pop singer Bruno Mars, whose residency at MGM Resorts International's  (MGM)  Park MGM Dolby Live was scheduled to end Sept. 1, has added six more shows to his long-running residency that will conclude with a New Year's Eve performance.

Tickets are now on sale for shows on Dec. 18, 20, 21, 27, 30 and 31, with plenty of tickets available at Ticketmaster.com, starting as low as $340 per ticket.

Six previously scheduled shows on Aug. 23, 24, 27, 28, 31 and Sept. 1 are still on sale with scattered seats around the theater available, but you can expect those shows will likely sell out as the performance dates approach.

The "24K Magic" singer, who opened his The Pinky Ring lounge at MGM's Bellagio Resort & Casino in February 2024, has performed residencies at Park MGM since 2016. Prior to that, Mars headlined a residency at MGM's Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in 2013-15.
