The Las Vegas Strip is energized with excitement whenever a new superstar announces a performance residency in one of its many hotel casino theaters. But sometimes there's a little letdown once a popular residency turns out the lights for the last time.
The first half of this year featured an all-star lineup of superstar singers and bands in residencies that kept visitors filling the theaters, as well as the hotel rooms and casino floors. "Juke Box Hero" performers Foreigner took the stage at the Venetian Theatre at The Venetian Las Vegas March 24 and finished eight shows on April 8.
Strip residencies come and go
James Taylor and His All-Star Band rolled through the Strip at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for five shows June 3, 4, 7, 9 and 10.
Singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson, who was also the "American Idol" Season 1 winner and a coach on "The Voice," performs her final five shows of her residency at Caesars Entertainment's (CZR) -) Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood on Aug. 11, 12, 18, 19 and 23. Van Morrison, affectionately known by his fans as Van the Man, returns to the Strip in September for three shows at Planet Hollywood Zappos Theater on Sept. 6, 8, and 9.
Katy Perry's residency Play continues for 12 more performances from Aug. 11 through Nov. 4 at the Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas, before the "Roar" singer ends the engagement and moves on.
Adele has a busier schedule than Perry in the same timeframe, as the "Hello" singer has 26 more shows booked on her Weekends with Adele residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace that run Aug. 11 through Nov. 4. It completes a 68-show engagement which began in November 2022. There's no word if Adele plans to extend her residency further.
Superstar singer Lady Gaga will make her highly anticipated return to the Strip at Dolby Live at the Park MGM for a 12-show Jazz + Piano residency. The engagement will run Aug. 31, Sept. 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 28, 30, Oct. 1, 4 and 5. Lady Gaga's run of shows at Park MGM begins after another popular act exits the theater.

Former "The Voice" coach Adam Levine and his band Maroon 5 brought their catalog of hits to MGM Resorts International's MGM Park MGM Dolby Live for a 16-show residency which began March 24 and concludes Aug. 12.
Maroon 5 plans a return to the Strip
The band will likely perform their big hits like "Memories," "Girls Like You," and "Moves Like Jagger," before packing up their instruments and heading for Brazil for shows on Sept. 7 in São Paulo and Sept. 9 in Belo Horizonte. Those are the only two shows listed on the band's website following the residency, but the band could line up more concerts before the end of the year.
Fans of Maroon 5 who missed the 2023 residency or can't get enough of the band can wait a few months as Adam Levine and company are expected return to the stage at Park MGM Dolby Live for an extended residency in 2024, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. Specific dates for the 2024 residency have not been released yet. Fans interested in tickets should keep an eye on the Maroon 5 and Park MGM websites and social media for ticket information.
