Las Vegas Imports Classic Restaurants From Hawaii and the South

The Las Vegas Strip has several options for visitors to indulge in restaurants operated by celebrity chefs, such as Gordon Ramsay, Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck or Guy Fieri. Puck has the Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill at MGM Resorts International's MGM (MGM) -) Grand. Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen is located at Caesars Entertainment's (CZR) -) Caesars Palace, while Flay and Fieri also have restaurants in Caesars properties.

The Strip also has its share of national and regional fast-food chains lining the street.  Regional chains on the Strip like White Castle, give Las Vegas visitors a chance to try restaurant chains not located in their hometowns. Other regional chains that can be found around Las Vegas include West Coast favorite In-N-Out, Southern California's Original Tommy's, or San Antonio, Texas-based Whataburger.

Now, Las Vegas is reaching outside the area again to bring in a couple more regional restaurant chains to add to its eclectic list of eateries from around the country, though it hasn't been confirmed yet if any of those will be located on the Strip. However, it's likely at least that one will arrive on the Strip based on the amount units coming to Vegas.

Bojangles Coming to Las Vegas

Popular Southern chicken, biscuits and tea fast-food restaurant chain Bojangles revealed on July 31 it signed a multi-unit development deal for a major expansion to bring 20 new restaurants to Las Vegas and another 10 locations to TravelCenters of America franchises in Western markets. The expansion is led by LVP Restaurant Group, an entity of LV Petroleum, and investment partner and developer Kingsbarn Realty Capital, a company statement said.

“This expansion represents an incredible opportunity to share Bojangles with the Las Vegas community. The city's energy and unparalleled entertainment aligns with our brand’s commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences,” Jose Armario, chief executive officer of Bojangles, said in the statement. “We identified the ideal partners in LVP Restaurant Group, LLC, and Kingsbarn Realty Capital, who provide local industry knowledge and an authentic passion for Bojangles. We are looking forward to serving our legendary chicken, biscuits and tea, for both Las Vegas locals and visitors alike.”

Bojangles did not state when and where the first locations will open. The Charlotte, N.C.-based chain, which was founded in 1977, has 816 locations in 17 states, mostly in the South. It has 347 locations in North Carolina and 149 locations in South Carolina, according to its website.

Zippy's

Vegas Awaits Zippy's Arrival

Hawaii's popular restaurant and bakery Zippy's is opening it's first location outside of the islands when it cuts the ribbon on its new eatery in Las Vegas after a five-year wait. The Honolulu based restaurant chain revealed in 2018 that it would open it's first restaurant on the mainland in 2020, but the covid pandemic shelved those plans, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.

Construction on the restaurant continued in summer 2022 at the corner of Badura Avenue and Montessouri Street, and is expected to open Oct. 10 at 10:10 a.m., according to Zippy's website.  That's not hard to forget -- just remember 10-10-10-10.

The restaurant will measure 7,000 square feet and feature menu items popular in Hawaii, including shoyu pork, saimin, chicken katsu, various chili dishes, oxtail soup, Portuguese bean soup, Portuguese sausage, Spam, eggs and rice breakfast and Spam musubi. Zippy's also has a wide variety of bakery items, such as cornbread, lemon cream cheese coffee cake, lilikoi bar, custard puffs, and various other cakes, pies and brownies.

Zippy's was established in 1966 and operates 22 locations on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii Island.
