Las Iguanas launches smoking Cuban afternoon tea with edible cigars

While afternoon tea is a quintessential British pastime that has spanned the generations, it has changed an awful lot in recent years and the latest restaurant to put its own twist on the refined tradition is Las Iguanas.

Forget cucumber sandwiches and a pot of Rosie Lee as the popular Latin haunt has launched a version of afternoon tea that you definitely won't have experienced before.

Very much in keeping with its overall theme, Las Iguanas is now serving a smokin' Cuban afternoon tea which as well pot of Rum tea, comes with edible cigars...yes really!

On the menu at restaurant , which has two branches in Newcastle, six days a week between 2 and 5pm, the stars of the £25 afternoon tea are the cigars which are served in a Smoking Cuban Cigar Box.

You can pick from one with pulled seasoned pork, Wiltshire ham, Emmental cheese, smoked cheese, French’s American mustard & dill pickle relish wrapped in a toasted black pepper tortilla and a vegetarian option which contains Garlicky mushroom, smoked cheese, Emmental cheese, French’s American mustard wrapped in a toasted beetroot tortilla.

There's also the option to go deluxe and add a cake stand of tapas & sweet treats for an extra £10.

Your choices for the stand are:  Cauliflower Bites  Tacos - (choose 1 each) Jackfruit Tinga Taco or Chicken Tinga; Tapas (choose 1 each) Chicken Coxinha or Dadinhos. Treats -Colombian Chocolate Brownie, Tres Leche Cake & Peruvian Cookies.

You can book up for the Cuban afternoon tea on Las Iguanas website.
