Some NBA news crossed over into NFL news when Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald sat in on interviews with the Phoenix Suns as they searched for a new general manager. While there was discussion of what role he played, Fitzgerald said he was actually not part of the process at all.
He was just an observer, according to Arizona Republic columnist Greg Moore.
“It was something that I was trying to learn, honestly,” he said. “That’s all it was. I don’t have any say-so. Don’t have an opinion or anything like that. Just me trying to learn about how the process goes.”
While some believed Suns owner Robert Sarver solicited the services of Fitzgerald, it was actually the other way around. Fitz asked to observe things.
“I asked Mr. Sarver if he would allow me to learn about the business a little bit,” Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald loves learning different things and plans on being part of the business world once his career in the NFL is over.
He is good friends with Sarver, he said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, so he downplayed the entire thing.
Fitz was just being Fitz. He was broadening his horizons a bit more.
