Largest kilo seller of vintage clothes in the UK coming to Newcastle this weekend

The largest kilo seller of vintage clothes in the UK is coming to visit Newcastle this weekend with a huge sale. In a kilo sale, instead of buying each item of clothing individually you pay based on how much your items weigh.

And Worth the Weight is hosting a huge kilo sale at The Civic Centre where shoppers can grab a biodegradable bag on entry and rummage through around 60 rails of fantastic vintage stock. They bring nine tonnes of garments along to each venue covering a broad range of categories.

Worth the Weight was set up in 2018 to fight fast fashion, selling vintage items at trade prices usually inaccessible to the public at just £20 per kilogram. With unisex, size-inclusive, and pick-n-mix style browsing, it promises that there is something for everyone.

Worth the Weight’s spokesperson Rowan Wolowacz said: "In the UK last year, 31% of clothes ended up in landfill sites. This amounts to approximately 350 000 tonnes of clothes.

"Our mission is to divert these clothes from landfill, slow down the trend cycle and to provide a sustainable alternative to fast fashion. We do this by providing quality vintage clothing from all over the world that you might not find anywhere else at an accessible price."

The clothes will be brought to Newcastle Civic Centre (ncjMedia)

The kilo sale will take place on the third floor of the Newcastle City Council's Civic Centre in Newcastle, NE1 8QH on Saturday. Doors will open at 10am and the event runs until 4pm. The entry fee is £2 but it is free for under 12s.
