A large rescue mission including air response was launched off the coast of Greystones, Co Wicklow this afternoon due to a sinking vessel.
A number of units including the Irish Coast Guard Rescue 116 and the RNLI rushed to the scene as the small vessel sank with two people and a dog named Lilly on board. Thankfully due to the prompt response as well as life jackets worn by those on board, all souls were rescued.
Updates shared on social media showed the quick response by rescue teams as the casualties went overboard. Following rescue they were brought back to shore by the Greystones Coast Guard. The fate of the boat they were on is still unknown as rescue teams return to the scene.

An update on the Coast Guard radio said: "Copy the two casualties on board with the dog, also no medical assistance required. Standby for updates on the sunken vessel."
A spokesman for the Greystones Coast Guard told Dublin Live: "The Marine Rescue Coordination Center Dublin received a 999/112 call from a small vessel taking on water off Greystones, Wicklow. Rescue 116 from Dublin and Greystones Coast Guard Boat and Greystones/Wicklow Coast Guard Unit responded.
"MRCC Dublin requested local vessels to assist over the Marine VHF Radio network. Greystones Coast Guard Boat located the casualty vessel which was partially sunk approximately 1 mile east of Greystones South Beach. Two casualties and a dog were rescued by the coast guard boat and returned to Greystones Harbour.
"The casualties and Dog (Lilly) were cold but un-injured. And are currently with Greystones/Wicklow Coast Guard Unit awaiting news on their boat. Greystones Coast Guard Boat is currently returned to scene to assess recovering the vessel. Incident ongoing."
