Police have issued a statement following reports that a woman was bitten by a dog. Derbyshire Constabulary were called to the scene on the A6005 in Long Eaton at around 6.45am on Saturday, April 1.
Police have since confirmed that a woman was bitten on the hand and taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.
Another dog was also bitten at the scene, police said, and the extent of the dog's injuries are currently unknown. Three police cars were spotted on the main road just after 7.30am. Two Alsatian dogs have been "seized" following the incident.
Police say that the owner of the dogs has been identified and will be interviewed. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "We were called to Long Eaton at around 6.45am on 1 April after reports a woman was bitten by a dog.
"One woman was bitten on the hand and was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.
"Another dog was also bitten. The extent of the dog’s injuries is not yet known. Two Alsatian type dogs have been seized. Their owner has been identified and will be interviewed in due course."
