Large emergency service response following barn fire in Greater Manchester

Fire crews were called to a large fire at a barn in Partington.

Emergency services responded to reports of the blaze on Park Road, Warburton, at around 7.15pm last night (April 8).

Eight fire engines from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire responded, as well as a technical response unit from Leigh, high volume pumps from Bolton and Stretford, and a command support unit from Atherton.

The barn contained a large quantity of kerosene, fertiliser and hay. The fire has since been extinguished by hose reels and jets.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 7.15pm on Saturday 8 April, GMFRS crews were called to reports of a fire at a barn on Park Road, Warburton in Trafford.

“Eight fire engines from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, as well as a technical response unit from Leigh, high volume pumps Bolton and Stretford, a command support unit from Atherton and a water bowser from Ellesmere Port attended the incident.

“The fire involved a barn which contained a large quantity of kerosene, fertiliser and hay. Firefighters used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.

“Fire crews remain at the scene making the area safe.”
