Large emergency service response as man taken to hospital after crash in Salford

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash in Salford.

The collision on Eccles New Road has prompted a large emergency response this evening (Friday). The road has been closed in both directions at Langworthy tram stop.

Greater Manchester Fire Service have confirmed they were called to the scene just after 8pm to a crash involving two vehicles.

One man was treated by a fire service trauma technician and paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital, they said.

Pictures from the scene show a number of police vehicles, a Northwest ambulance and a number of crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service stationed nearby.

No further details about the nature of the crash or the casualties injuries have been released at this stage. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Service said: "Just after 8pm this evening firefighters from Salford and Ashton attended a road traffic collision on Eccles New Road in Salford.

"Two vehicles were involved in the crash. One man was treated by a fire service trauma technician and paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service. Greater Manchester Police were also present at the scene."
