After struggling to identify and apprehend the teenage perpetrators of a string of 7-Eleven robberies, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has turned to the public for help.
On Wednesday, the LAPD released a statement notifying the public of additional patrol efforts being implemented at local 7-Eleven stores following multiple reports of "flash robberies" involving roving bands of "youthful males."
"The investigations are ongoing and anyone with information regarding these types of incidents are urged to contact 1-877-LAPD-24-7," reads the statement.
On Friday night at about 7:15 p.m., a group of roughly 50 teen boys ransacked a 7-Eleven, stealing an undisclosed amount of merchandise before taking off on bicycles.
This is the 14th incident of this nature that has occurred since July 12. The LAPD released images captured from CCTV footage displaying the faces of some of the perpetrators, but has been unable to successfully identify them thus far.
"In several incidents, the witnesses were physically pushed by the suspects during the criminal take-over of the stores, with no regard for others safety," reads the statement from the LAPD. "Although there are no reported physical injuries, several witnesses continue to fear for their safety after such aggressive and callous criminal behavior."
