Auburn fans, you might want to temper your “Welcome, Coach Kiffin” pep rally for now.
After a report from Jon Sokoloff of WCBI News emerged that the Ole Miss football coach would be heading to Toomer’s Corner for his next stop, none other than Kiffin himself came in with two very distinct denials of any sort of job change.
Ever since Auburn fired Bryan Harsin earlier in the season, fans have wondered if Kiffin would be interested in joining the War Eagles. Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze has also been a rumored target, and it’s always possible the team could promote alum and interim coach Cadillac Williams.
For now, it’s nobody’s job for sure, and Kiffin has made it very clear it’s not him (yet).
That’s news to me Jon. 🤦♂️. Nice sources 🚫👿🪑🍽 https://t.co/P8rdpxEk0p

Ouch. While the reporter in question could certainly have a good source and be right, Kiffin took a very aggressive path for denial. It’s all in good fun in the end, but … maybe it’s not?
Kiffin does seem kind of annoyed here. It makes sense with the annual Egg Bowl rivalry game against Mississippi State on Thanksgiving night. At the very least, Ole Miss fans will have just a little more time to pretend that Kiffin isn’t packing his bags for Auburn anytime soon.
