A 47-year-old man who died in hospital after being shot at a house in the northern Perth suburb of Landsdale, was "in the wrong place at the wrong time", WA Police believe.
Homicide Squad Detectives have charged a 31-year-old Beckenham man with the shooting death of Ralph Matthews-Cox.
Early on January 12, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Montacute Turn, where they found a badly injured man.
Mr Matthews-Cox was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, but died a short time later.
Police also allege the 31-year-old man fired shots at houses in Montrose Avenue in Girrawheen and Wanneroo Road in Wanneroo early on January 4.
Inquiries are continuing into all three incidents.
Officers believe others may have been involved and are focusing on people who were with the accused at the time, or anyone that may have aided the accused.
Victim 'not intended target': Police
Detective Inspector Quentin Flatman said in a statement the victim was not the intended target, nor was he involved in any actions or activities that would have led to him being murdered.
"The death of Mr Matthews-Cox was tragic, and involved a man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time," he said.
"He was a much valued member of the community — a very much loved son, husband and father and his family say he will be sorely missed."
The Beckenham man is facing one charge of murder, four of attempted murder and a series of other charges.
