Landlords will soon be legally required to allow occupants to have pets in their homes, after decades of barrings put in place by some proprietors.
Government Proposals led by Housing Secretary Michael Gove - which are expected to be announced tomorrow - will bring a long-anticipated end to blanket bans on four legged friends in landlord lettings.
The new rules are said to be included within the Renters Reform Bill, which will also put a halt to 'no fault' section 21 evictions - which currently enables landlords to evict tenants without establishing fault from renters.

A Government source told the Daily Mail : "Not only will our new deal for renters extend the decent homes standard to the private rented sector, we’ll also give tenants a legal right to have a pet if they wish.
"Would-be pet owners are being unfairly deprived of the company and companionship of an animal by their landlords – so we’ll change the law to end this unfairness."
However, tenants will still be required to cover the cost of any damages as a result of keeping pets - with landlords set to be given additional powers to request that tenants have insurance while living in their accommodation.
It is said that roughly 4.4 million families across England live in some form of rented accommodation, with just 7 per cent of proprietors advertising their homes as 'pet friendly' but Mr Gove's reform will change these figures substantially, giving cat and dog lovers more options when seeking a suitable abode.
