Parents beware, if you leave your kids unattended in one popular pub in Lancashire you're likely to find in a jollier mood than when you left them. They might have picked up a few expletives along the way too.
This is all thanks to one landlady who is warning parents not to leave their kids alone in her pub - as it can result in stark consequences. She left punters amused after displaying a cheeky sign threatening to give Red Bull to any children left alone in her boozer - and they'll be taught how to swear too.
Luckily, the tongue-in-cheek notice went down a treat with regulars according to landlady Jo Hunt, who insists the pub is 'dog-friendly and child-tolerant'.
Together with her husband, Jordan, prankster Jo runs The Heys Inn, in Oswaldtwistle, where the duo have been at the helm for almost a decade, according to LancsLive.
Talking to the publication, the mum-of-four confirmed: "It's obviously just a joke".
She explained: "We have four children ourselves, ranging in age from 10 right down to 16 weeks, and we always joke that we are dog-friendly and child-tolerant. All the locals had a giggle about it. If anyone takes it seriously then b*gger them!"
While the family live in the pub, the kids don't often spend much time in the bar. "We had them singing karaoke on Christmas Eve but it's rare for them to be in the pub," Mrs Hunt said.
The mum, who has run the pub in Stone Bridge Lane for just over nine years, revealed that despite the cost of living crisis and rising energy bills, the Heys Inn is doing well and says it's "just a case of balancing what's coming in with what's going out".
Owing to its consistent success, the couple recently signed a contract to stay on for another five years at the pub.
"The bills are getting bigger but we just have to balance that," Mrs Hunt said. "But we've got a really good group of regulars and we're doing really well. We're really excited about signing a new contract."
