In this section, I’ll take a closer look at Landbot’s features.
Drag-and-Drop Chatbot Builder
Landbot’s key feature is its drag-and-drop builder. The flow builder comes with a clean canvas where you can drag and drop building blocks and connect them via conditional logic and formulas.
The building blocks are broadly divided into the following categories.
- Messages → include Send a message, Media, and Goodbye message elements.
- Questions → include buttons, rating, asking for a name, etc.
- Logic → includes Conditions, Set field Formulas, Goals, etc.
- Integrations → include Send an email, Zapier, Airtable, Hubspot, etc.
- Inbox & Builder tools → includes Business hours, Close chat, Bricks, etc.
- Low code → offers advanced blocks such as Code set, Code, Webhook, etc.
I found the drag-and-drop builder intuitive, with a focus on ease of use. Anyone familiar with flow charts and basic chatbot functionalities can create a chatbot in minutes.

Pre-built Chatbot Templates
Landbot comes with pre-built chatbot templates for Web and WhatsApp bots. Currently, they offer 12 pre-made bots (6 web and 6 WhatsApp).
These templates are completely customizable and help you create an error-free bot with a focus on getting it to use as fast as possible.
Each template solves a specific problem, such as the Survey template for surveying or the Customer Feedback Template for getting customer feedback. The “eye” symbol lets you preview the bot in action before using it.
For example, I went ahead and used the Customer Support template. The bot comes with a basic structure and buttons, giving customers a choice. If the customer doesn’t find a matching option, the bot asks the customer to provide their email for human takeover. It’s simple and useful.
These templates are completely customizable.
AI-generated Bot
Landbot is AI-powered. This means you can ask its AI to build a bot for you automatically.
To accomplish this, you need to create a bot and select the “Built it for me!” option.
Now, you can describe the bot that you want. In case you’re not sure how to describe it, you can learn from the available examples. For instance, the description for creating a Lead Generation bot is as below.
As I am a Formula 1 fan, why not create a bot for it?
I want to create a Formula 1 chatbot that runs a fun-filled interactive quiz. The quiz will cover the controversial 2021 world championship, where Max Verstappen won by beating 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Add 4 questions and give a score at the end of the quiz.
That’s quite detailed, with 4 questions and a few conditionals.
Let’s see it in action.
A few things that I noticed when using the AI chatbot creation process:
- The description must be as detailed as possible. If you don’t provide details, it can lead to subpar initial versions.
- It is not just a create-and-use bot process. You need to edit the blocks, elements, and messages to customize it further.
- You may find errors pop-up in the initial draft.
I found the AI-bot creation process slightly underwhelming. After all, it depends on the underlying OpenAI, which can make mistakes. So, in conclusion, it’s a great tool for creating the initial version of your chatbot.
Multichannel Chatbot
Landbot supports multichannel with support for website, messenger, and WhatsApp. However, a bot created for a website will only work on a website. This is true for WhatsApp and messenger bots, too.
Out of all these three options, I recommend a WhatsApp bot for lead generation, as most people use WhatsApp. It helps brands to stay connected at a personal level to their customers or potential leads. However, that doesn’t mean the other channels are not useful. A well-crafted landing page bot can also improve lead generation with chat-driven sales.
AI Appointment Assistant
Landbot’s AI appointment assistant improves efficiency by allowing leads to make hassle-free bookings. The assistant setup includes you connecting your calendar and asking the lead relevant questions (powered by AI) to help them book a call.
In return, you can enable notifications for your team so they know when a new call is booked.
The six steps that you need to follow to set the Assistant include:
- Your Calendar → here, you connect your Calendar and set your availability
- Ask the lead → ask questions to the lead (supports custom questions)
- Answer the lead → Train the AI assistant to answer the lead related to the company
- Customize Assistant → Set welcome message, assign an assistant name, and select language
- Notification → set notifications and reminders.
- Preview → Preview the bot in action.
During the setup process, you can set the following:
- Available days
- Available hours
- Event duration
Now, you’ll choose the information you want to ask. This can include email, full name, product of interest, or location of interest. Depending on your lead generation campaign, you can also ask custom questions.
Next, fill in the information for the “Answer the lead” section.
With basic information filled in, you can now customize the assistant by giving it a name and selecting the language.
Finally, you set up the notification by entering an email and previewing the AI assistant before making it live.
This is how the Assistant works by relying on AI.
Is Landbot Easy to Use?
In my experience, I found the chatbot easy to use. The elements can be dragged and dropped onto the canvas and are fully customizable.
In this section, I’ll help you learn how you can create your first chatbot.
Things I noticed when using the drag-and-drop builder:
- Landbot offers Workspaces where you can create and manage similar chatbots together.
- You don’t need to save your work as the builder auto-saves.
- You can use keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl + C (copying an element), Ctrl + A (selecting all elements), or Ctrl + Z (undo the last step).
- The elements connect seamlessly with each other.
- The flow builder is relatively easy to use
- There is an option for low code where you can work with webhook, code, trigger automation, code set, and dynamic data.
- The chatbot performance is fast, with smooth element transitions.
- You can create AI agents by providing a detailed set of instructions.
1. Sign up and onboarding experience
I found the Landbot onboarding experience welcoming.
If you’re new, you can sign up for their service, which pricing starts at €40/mo.
However, I strongly recommend you test out their Sandbox free forever plan, which lets you test out its basic flow operations, power-ups, limited integrations, and team Inbox.
Note: For new users, Landbot offers a 14-day trial where you get unlimited access, team seats, email support, and other advanced features.
Once you log in via email, Landbot asks basic questions, including name and purpose.
As soon as it is done, you get redirected to the Landbot Builder, where it explains the key aspects of the builder.
Neat and helpful!
2. Building chatbot workflow visually
Landbot comes with a feature-rich drag-and-drop builder. It enables you to create a chatbot without writing a single line of code.
It relies on a flow builder approach, where you connect available blocks through flows. These blocks can be messages, questions, logic, integration, or Inbox & builder tools.
The key here is to create a chatbot that is as detailed as possible.
For example, I can add a button that lets users check out the Geekflare Tools section. I can change the message, media, and button alignment and save the user’s answer in a field.
That’s what the first button element looks like.
Now, you’ll notice a right arrow along each button. When clicked, it lets you add more elements (blocks) to the flow.
You can search by name or browse through the available ones easily.
So, I created a chatbot that introduces visitors to Geekflare tools.
The flow looks like below:
During creation, I could preview my work at each step by clicking the “Test this bot” button at the top right. It opens up a preview window and helps me visualize how the bot will work, enabling me to make changes instantly when needed.

3. Customizing the chatbot experience
Creating the bot is just one part of what Landbot has to offer. Once you save/publish the bot, you can design it according to your brand guidelines.
During the design phase, you get a real-time way to change chatbot design. Here, you change the background, font, layout, and avatar or add custom code.
For example, I went forward and changed the message bubble shapes to a more circular one. Similarly, you can change colors for messages, buttons, text, and much more.
Additionally, you can change chatbot settings, where you get to change the chatbot settings. These include Landbot name, branding, legal consent (show/hide), and back button option (show/hide). Here, I also found options to change bot behavior on a user’s second visit, set custom system messages, use SEO, track hidden fields, and type emulation.
4. Deploying chatbot
Under the Share tab, you get options on how to embed the site to a website or landing page.
You can share it via the live chat option, full page, embed, or even popup.
For each option, you get a different code/script to embed. Additionally, you can share your chatbot using a link or template or export the flow as PNG.
Lastly, under the Analyze tab, you can check for conversation data, metrics, and chatbot analytics.
Landbot AI Agents
Landbot recently started offering AI agents capabilities. Currently, they’re offering a Customer Service AI agent that offers human-like responses.
Once you set up instructions, you need to set Exit Scenario, Knowledge (via Files or Text), and then select the channels you want to publish.
Landbot Integrations
Landbot offers tons of integrations, including Hubspot, Calendly, Facebook Messenger, MailChimp, Google Sheets, and many more.
These integrations are excellent for teams to connect their CRMs or help desk platforms quickly.
For example, Landbot supports the following CRM integrations:
- HubSpot
- Salesforce
- MailChimp
Businesses can also connect Landbot to eCommerce platforms for use cases such as product recommendations using AI.
For custom integrations, teams can use Landbot’s Messaging API to create personalized real-time data communication for websites.

During my review, I found Landbot to be an excellent chatbot creator. However, it does have some drawbacks. Some of the ones that I noted include:
- Landbot relies heavily on third-party integrations to offer functionality. Moreover, the third-party integrations only have limited control.
- Even while Landbot is beginner-friendly, mastering it can take time and patience. To overcome this, businesses may want to hire chatbot experts, but that increases the expenses.
- Landbot pricing is not budget-friendly, with plans starting at €40/mo. The basic plan only offers website chatbot creation and lacks WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger bots, making it pricier for businesses that want bots for social platforms.
- I found their template design collection to be small, limited, and lacking in covering different business niches.
