A piece of land was left scorched after a wildfire ripped through a field.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Lydiate Lane in Thornton on Tuesday, August 16 at around 9.30pm. The incident involved a large field of grass on fire and three fire engines attended.
People living in the area were warned to close their windows. Firefighters said approximately 200m x 100m of grass was involved in the blaze. Pictures of the scene today show a field scorched and blackened after the fire.

Firefighters used hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the flames. The fire was put out by 10.52pm on Tuesday and crews carried out damping down operations and left the scene at 11.30pm.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Servic e said: "MFRS was called to Lydiate Lane on Tuesday, August 16. Crews were alerted shortly after 9.30pm. Three fire engines attended. The incident involved a large field of grass on fire. Approximately 200m x 100m of grass was involved.
"Firefighters used hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire. The fire had been extinguished by 10.52pm. Crews carried out damping down operations and left the scene at 11.30pm."
