A Land Rover ended up on its side after its driver swerved to avoid a cat in the middle of the road.
These dramatic images shared by Greater Manchester Police show the wreckage left behind after the car rolled over in Trafford at the weekend. Officers descended on a residential street in Altrincham on Saturday (April 2), where they found the silver Land Rover Discovery had toppled.
GMP says the driver had swerved to avoid a cat that had run out from garden. After the driver had swerved, the Land Rover hit a tree and snapped it in two, before the vehicle overturned.
The images show the car had landed on the driver's side. Smashed window glass can be seen next to it on the road, while airbags were deployed in the front of the car.
Luckily, the driver managed to escape the Land Rover unharmed, while GMP says the cat also avoided any injuries. Officers closed off the road until the Land Rover was recovered.
A spokesperson for GMP Traffic wrote on Twitter: "Driver of this Land Rover Defender had a lucky escape, swerved to avoid a cat that ran from a garden, vehicle hit and snapped a tree in two and then the vehicle overturned.
"Driver passed drug test. Driver and cat uninjured. Vehicle now recovered."
