Lanarkshire tennis club hold fancy dress quiz night as part of centenary fun

Rutherglen Lawn Tennis Club served up a fun-packed quiz in the town hall last week.

The annual event is always a smash and 150 people turned up in fancy dress to make up the 15 teams that battled through the rounds.

And the winners swapped their normal service games for Her Majesty’s Secret Service – as they were all decked out as James Bond Characters.

Calling themselves Quiz and Let Die, they became the first team in the event’s nine years to win a ha-trick of titles.

In second place were Faultless Champion, who won the Weakest Link bonus round.

And third place went to the Snow White team in their costumes from the Disney classic.

The bonus outfit points were given to In the Lead for their creative and clever blending of tennis and 101 Dalmatians costumes.

And, unfortunately, It’s Not A Party picked up the wooden spoon again.

A spokesperson for Rutherglen Lawn Tennis Club told Lanarkshire Live: “A massive thank you to all the staff at Rutherglen Town Hall who looked after us so well again. We’re so lucky to have such a wonderful venue on our doorstep.

“In addition to the quiz, it was also great to launch our range of centenary products and get such a great reaction from members and friends.

“These products will be available for sale at all our #RLTCCentenary events and we’ll also set up some pop-up shops so that all members can get their hands on these cracking items.

“A huge thank you to Gareth and Neil. The work to make this such a success should not be underestimated– the many hours beforehand and then keeping it going for nearly five hours on the night.

“We look forward to doing it all again next year!”
