A youth burst into a mum’s home and demanded that she hand over drugs.
Sean Ward eventually left empty-handed but not before terrifying the victim and her six-year-old daughter.
Ward, of Central Avenue, Holytown, admitted forcing entry to the house and attempting to rob the woman.
An allegation the 18-year-old brandished a knife at her was deleted from the charge.
The incident happened in Burn Crescent, New Stevenston, on July 20, 2020.
Aga Mathieson, prosecuting, said the woman heard banging on the front door around 7.20am.
The fiscal told Hamilton Sheriff Court: “She saw Ward standing in the hall. He shouted to her ‘Get the f.....g drugs out now’.
“She started to cry and scream, as did her daughter, and at this point Ward left.
“Police were contacted and he was arrested later that day.”
Ms Mathieson said it was unclear if there was any connection between Ward and the family who lived at that address.
Sentence on Ward was deferred until later this month for a criminal justice social work report and an electronic tagging assessment.
He was allowed to remain on bail.
In the dock with Ward was Kieran Stewart, 20.
His not guilty pleas to the attempted robbery charge, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified were accepted.
Stewart is serving a 22-month sentence imposed last month for stabbing a man in Harthill.
