East Kilbride Swim Team swapped the pool for a country park raising over £1700 for its funds.
Over 60 participants took part in a sponsored walk at Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton recently.
There was intermittent rain but this did little to dampen the spirit of the walkers who trod over 7K at the country park and held a picnic at the end.
East Kilbride Swim Team celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019 and has continued to go from strength to strength.
The club was formed in 1969 and is an independent organisation with its own constitution, it exists to promote the sport of competitive swimming.
In attendance was local MP for East Kilbride Dr Lisa Cameron, a supporter of the club who has provided a number of fundraising items and participated in the walk and picnic and said: “It was fantastic to join the 7K fundraising walk with EK Swim Team.
"I was able to speak to young people participating in swimming competitions with the club and who proudly represent our constituency at national levels. I look forward to supporting their future events."
Claire Steele, chief fundraiser at East Kilbride Swim Team, who organised the event said: “Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event it was a great turn out.
"A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our cause we are delighted with the amount raised.”
East Kilbride Swim Teams next fundraising event is their Christmas fayre on November 26 in the Dollan Aqua Centre from 10-2pm and they are appealing for local businesses and individuals to donate prizes or auction items to help support the great work the club is doing."
