Lanarkshire singing ensemble announce new dates after two year gap

Following a two-year gap, the highly regarded Lanarkshire singing ensemble, Octave, are preparing to take to the stage again for their annual charity concert.

The group are preparing a brand new programme of music including Broadway musicals, classical and popular music; so something to suit all tastes.

The group were formed by renowned local musical director, David Fisher, in 2011 and have been performing annual concerts in addition to other charity and fundraising events ever since.

In 2013, Octave were awarded ‘Best in Class’ in the Mixed Voice Choir section of the Glasgow Music Festival.

The members of the group are Janis Cunningham, John McKenzie, Esther O’Hara, Jonathan Procter Kirsty Ross, Julie Thomson, Raymond Tulips and Carol Whitelaw.

The concerts entitled 'Octave Let’s Get GLOing' will be held on Thursday, September 22 to Saturday, September 24 at 7.30pm in Motherwell’s GLO Auditorium.

The group are entirely voluntary, and after the deduction of running costs, surplus funds are given to charity.

This year the group is supporting Experience Counts - a Motherwell-based mental health charity which is part of the SAMH network.

Since the group was formed, they have donated over £20,000 to local charities.

Tickets, priced £13, are available from Shona Fisher on 01698 721 607 or by emailing shona.fisher2@mail.com.
