Lanarkshire singer Terra Kin tipped as one to watch as new single 'Shadows' drops

A Lanarkshire singer-songwriter has released a new single amidst hype of their perceived success for 2023.

Hannah Findlay, who performs under the name Terra Kin, has unveiled 'Shadows,' a track from their debut four track EP 'Too Far Gone'.

The new releases comes on the back of this year's 'Flames' track, that has seen the former Cathkin High pupil become hotly tipped on the Scottish music scene.

'Shadows' displays a stripped back and sparse sound that lets Hannah's voice take centre stage, while the song was inspired by recurring dreams.

Hannah, from Cambuslang, told Lanarkshire Live : "I’m a very vivid dreamer.

"I wrote 'Shadows' after having a certain person revisit me in my dreams, dreams that were inescapable.

"They led to false narratives and. in turn. made me romanticise this person. I refer to them as a shadow to symbolise the fact they weren’t actually physically there."

However, it took a moment with their family for the 23-year-old to realise what they were striving for with the song.

Hannah added: "I always kept my songs in the confines of my bedroom, but after writing Shadows my grandmother, who lived with my family and raised us, became very unwell.

"We cared for her in my family home and I played the song to her. It was the last time she heard me sing. I realised it's not about romanticising a silly boy, it's about longing and trying to grasp something that isn't quite in your reach.

"I love the immortality of dreams yet how fleeting they are."

Previous release "Flames" was praised by the likes of music sites Clash and the Line of Best Fit, while they have collaborated with the likes of top producer Fred again.. and supported the jazz/Afrobeat fusion outfit Kokoroko.

Currently signed to Island Records, further material and gigs are expected next year.
