A Lanarkshire school had a grand time celebrating the Platinum Jubilee – raising nearly £1000 at a carnival.
Spittal Primary in Rutherglen spent four weeks planning the extravaganza, with the P7s taking charge of preparations.
The youngsters prepared a variety of activities, from a tombola to face painting, to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years on the throne.
It all took place last Wednesday, with the money raised will go towards school funds.
P7 teacher Sarah Thomson told Lanarkshire Live : “I think the day went really well.
"It was one of these things that grew arms and legs.
“We wanted to do something for the jubilee, and our P7s wanted to do an enterprise project, so they ended up planning everything. They got props and worked out prices and asked the community for donations.
“The P7s had a huge sense of achievement. They were really excited by the turnout and the other children that came along had a great time.
"It was our first time welcoming parents back into the school after COVID.
“We had a great response from the local community, with businesses giving us cakes and prizes.
“We raised £926, which we are over the moon with.
"This will go towards the P7s’ leaver day activities and the rest will go back into school funds for us to be able to organise more experiences for the children.”
