Lanarkshire's Outlander star Scott Kyle delighted at landing sponsored support

The Lanarkshire star of hit TV show Outlander has expressed his delight at landing sponsorship for a Scottish event he is running for fans of the series.

Scott Kyle plays Ross on the popular programme, and also organises the Scottish Fling at both home and abroad, letting fans of the show gather to chat to fellow aficionados and sample both Scottish culture and cuisine.

Now he's teamed up with Scottish author EJ Goldberg Philips to secure support for the Glasgow leg of the gatherings.

Scott, who hails from Rutherglen, told Lanarkshire Live: "‘It’s a brilliant showcase for Scottish talent and culture. We start off with a pipe band and finish with a ceilidh, and we get people flying in from across the globe.

"It’s now so well established on the social calendar and we can see it growing and growing year on year. And it's a great night.

"Eddie coming onboard only highlights its stature."

Eddie, who currently lives in Kilwinning, has written two books, with his latest offering No-One Can Hear You Scream being a twisty crime thriller that aims to keep readers guessing.

He was eager to support the Scottish Fling, which this year will take place on September 10 in Glasgow at the Radisson Blu hotel.

He added: "‘I’m a solid supporter of the fling. My son Jay was also in Outlander and I’m very proud to associate myself with this event.

"From a small-scale event it’s now grown arms and legs. I was chatting to Glasgow’s Lord Provost at it last year. I was also introduced to a couple there from Montana, so I can’t wait for this next one."

Earlier this year Lanarkshire Live told how Scott was delighted to get started with the flings again, after they were disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

More information on the gatherings can be found here.
