Lanarkshire pub to host special celebration to honour HRH The Queen

A Hamilton bar will celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II this upcoming Bank Holiday Monday.

Mavrix bar, on Quarry Street, is extending an invitation to anyone who wishes to watch the funeral of Her Majesty the Queen from 11am on Monday, September 19 and toast the Monarch as she is laid to rest.

In a touching tribute, bosses at Mavrix will lay on a free buffet and welcomes anyone who wishes to join them on the day to watch events unfold surrounded by others.

It is hoped the sad occasion will allow people to gather and share their thoughts and memories of the longest serving British monarch who died last Thursday evening in the Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire some 70 years and 214 days into her reign - the longest recorded of any female head of state in history.

John Mulvanney of Mavrix told Lanarkshire Live : "In light of recent circumstances with the extremely sad passing of our Queen, we at Mavrix wish to extend an open invititaton to the people of Hamilton to come along and celebrate the life of Her Majesty.

"We will be covering the full funeral ceremony of the Monarch live on Monday, September 19 on our six television screens.

"With this now being a Bank Holiday, we would warmly welcome you to join us on this momentous day.

"A free buffet will be provided for all. All welcome."
