Lanarkshire pub raises hundreds for local kids' charity

A fundraising event held by a Lanarkshire pub has been a huge success after raising hundreds for a children's charity.

The Peacock and Ivy Bar in Hamilton hosted a ladies day on July 30 where £465.10 was raised for the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

The event was full of entertainment with three performers playing throughout the day as lots of raffle prizes, kindly donated by generous locals, helped bring in vital cash for the cause, as well as an auction.

The establishment saw a fantastic turnout of people attend who all dug deep to make the fundraiser a success.

Mary Gilfillan, Bar Manager he Peacock and Ivy Bar, told Lanarkshire Live : "We had entertainment on throughout the whole day, prizes were donated by local people, and was very well attended throughout the day.

"It was a great success. We've been conscious of the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation for years and the great work that they do.

"Lesley works so hard for the charity and he deserves all the help he can get. And we'll look forward to doing something again for the charity in the future."

"We would like to thank everybody for attending and for making the day a success", Mary added.

Locals enjoyed a DJ as well as live singers at the event which was enjoyed by all.

And the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation were full of praise for the Hamilton bar and thanked staff for their efforts.

Angela Cook, dream maker manager at the charity, said: “I am so grateful to all the Peacock and Ivy staff and customers for this fantastic donation especially at such a hard time for everyone.

"We will make sure that this put a smile on the face of a local child who is fighting a life threatening Illness right now.”

The Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation supports local children facing life-limiting illnesses. Through fundraising, they organise fun events and activities and arrange for youngsters to meet some of their idols.
