A sexual predator who stalked a pregnant mum before attacking her in broad daylight has been jailed for four years.
Jamie Frame was caught on CCTV as he followed the 21-year-old before pouncing in a secluded wooded lane.
Earlier this month, a jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting the woman in Hamilton on January 21 last year.
Frame’s brave victim watched him being sentenced last week at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Ray Small described the “planned attack” as “sinister, repulsive and disgusting”.
He noted social workers had assessed Frame, 27, as highly likely to reoffend and that he “poses a serious risk”.
The sheriff said: “It’s clear from the victim impact statement that the assault has had a serious effect on her life and freedom, and her ability to go out in public and enjoy her relationship with her partner and family.
“Her distress was obvious when she saw on CCTV, possibly for the first time, that the person who assaulted her had been tracking her movements for some time.”
Sheriff Small also ordered that he be supervised for two years on his release from prison.
Outside court, the woman said she was happy with the sentence.
Previously she told the court she became aware of Frame following her as she walked home after dropping off her child at nursery.
She said: “I prayed a little. I hoped I would not get hurt.”
Frame was also put on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period and must stay away from his victim for six years under a non-harassment order.
The prison sentence was backdated to February 4 last year as he has been in custody since then.
