Lanarkshire police launch appeal after two cars deliberately torched in street

Two vehicles were left “extensively damaged” after they were deliberately torched in a residential street.

The incident happened around 11.05pm on Saturday near to McGregor Road in Cumbernauld.

Now police are appealing for information following the incident on August 13.

Emergency services attended and the fire was put out by fire fighters.

DC Derek Wilson told Lanarkshire Live: “I am appealing to anyone who may have heard or seen something around 11pm on Saturday night.

“Did you see anyone hanging around or anyone running off? Any small detail could prove significant in our investigation so please do pass it on.”

No-one was injured in the incident but both vehicles, a silver Renault Scenic and a grey Ford Focus, have been extensively damaged.

DC Wilson said officers would be checking for any relevant CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information it can provide.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101. Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
