Lanarkshire police launch appeal after spate of fly-tipping and fireraising

Police in Motherwell are appealing for the public's help after a number of wheelie bin thefts, wilful fireraisings and fly-tipping incidents..

Officers working in the Newarthill area of the town are asking local residents to check CCTV footage and report any incidents following a spate of damage caused across the area in recent weeks.

They are also urging people across Lanarkshire to report such incidents to Crimestoppers, or either North or South Lanarkshire Council, or to report fly tipping contact Dumb Dumpers online.

A spokesperson for Lanarkshire Police Division said: "Fly-tipping poses a threat to humans, wildlife and the environment. It's ugly - spoiling towns and countryside

"If you have any information which can help track down those responsible, please contact 101 and ask for PC Martin at Bellshill Station. Always call 999 in an emergency.

"If you'd rather stay anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Report fly-tipping here.

"For South Lanarkshire Council visit here and for North Lanarkshire Council, here . "
