Lanarkshire Police issue advice to drivers following number of car thefts across the area

Police in Lanarkshire have issued advice to residents to keep their cars safe following a number of thefts in the area.

Officers released the advice on the Lanarkshire Police Division Facebook page as the force revealed that it was “currently dealing with a number of thefts from motor vehicles across Lanarkshire”.

The advice states: “Please remember to keep your vehicles and belongings safe.

“If you have a car that uses keyless entry keep the fob away from doors and windows and out of sight. If possible make use of a faraday pouch when not using your car.

“Always check that you vehicle is locked and secure. Before leaving your vehicle parked try the doors to check they are locked to avoid accidently leaving a door open.

“Please don’t leave valuable items within your vehicle. If you are parking your vehicle overnight remove all valuable items and store them safely and securely inside your home. If you use tools for work make sure these are also removed and stored securely if you are leaving your vehicle unattended.

“When parking your vehicle always park it in a well lit, overlooked area. Make use of available cameras where possible so that your vehicle is covered.”
