Lanarkshire police investigate weekend incidents, including assault on elderly woman

A woman was left with a head injury following an incident in a Wishaw street.

The 21-year-old sustained a 2cm cut to her head after becoming involved in an argument on Newark Drive, Coltness.

It occurred around 2.30pm last Friday, April 1.

Officers are also currently investigating a report of an assault on an elderly woman in Motherwell.

The 84-year-old was assaulted when she was struck on the head by a stone thrown by a group of youths who were causing a disturbance in the street.

The incident took place on Sunday at 5.45pm on Millfield Avenue.

Elsewhere at the weekend, a house in Motherwell was broken into and items stolen.

The door of the property in Manse View was forced open last Friday and reported around 9.05pm

And a 23-year-old man was arrested in relation to a road traffic collision in the early hours of Sunday.

Police were alerted to the incident on Carfin Road, Motherwell at 1am on April 3.

As they were carrying out enquiries into the collision the driver of the vehicle involved was allegedly found to exceed the legal limit for alcohol.
