Lanarkshire police appealing for information following attempted murder

A man was left with "serious injuries" following an assault in Lanarkshire that police are treating as attempted murder.

The 28-year-old victim was attacked on Moodiesburn's Westdale Drive at around 9.45pm last Sunday, May 15.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary suffering from injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

Extensive enquiries have so far revealed a black Nissan Qashqai car may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Shemain Murphy, of Coatbridge CID, told Lanarkshire Live : "A man has been left with serious injuries and it is vital we trace whoever is responsible.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident, or noticed anything at all suspicious, to come forward.

"In particular, we would like to speak to anyone who saw a black Nissan Qashqai car in the area around the time.

"I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams to please check their footage in case they have captured anything of significance, or anyone with CCTV that has not been spoken to by police yet.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3890 of Sunday, May 15.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
