Lanarkshire performing arts students to tread the boards in seasonal pantomimes

Over 130 performing arts students from across Lanarkshire are gearing up to spend the festive period on stage in a variety of pantomime's - oh yes they are!

The students, from Jazzart College of Performing Arts studios, are buzzing to be joining many of their academy's graduates on stage in productions taking place across Glasgow and the west.

At Motherwell Concert Hall, 20- plus junior academy students will join graduates Rachel Oates, playing Baroness, and Jacqueline Cannavan in the ensemble on stage for this year's production of Cinderella.

Over 100 further young perfromers will be appearing in the national tour of Elf - the world's biggest Panto - at the Hydro in Glasgow on December 10 and 11.

Jazzart diploma students will also be touring throughout the West of Scotland with the school's own panto production of Peter Pan throughout the entire month of December.

And graduate Brooke Thomson will also take to the stage once again starring as Princess Jazmin in Aladdin at the famous Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow, which is being choreographed by Jazzart’s commercial teacher Stephanie MacDonald.

And Nicola Thomson can be seen in Beauty and the Beast at Glasgow's Kings Theatre.

Over in the Alhambra Dunfermline, Katie MacFarlane joins Ian “Sheepie” Smith in Beauty and the Beast. In addition alumni can be seen worldwide on cruises and tours plus many touring the UK over the next season.

Jazzart director, Sheridan Nicol, is over the moon at having so many opportunities to perform on the professional stage after two years of uncertainty in both theatre and TV due to the global pandemic.

She told Lanarkshire Live : "It’s great to see so many of our grads back out on great professional contracts and so many opportunities open up for our junior companies."
