A Wishaw pensioner caught with hundreds of child abuse images has been jailed for 18 months.
The disgusting material was found on three laptops belonging to Colin McVittie.
It included 151 videos in the most depraved category.
There were also photos and videos featuring bestiality.
The 69-year-old appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted possessing the illicit material at his home in Lockhart Place between December 2012 and March last year.
An allegation that he distributed or shared indecent images of children was dropped.
McVittie admitted the charges last month and sentence was deferred at that time for a criminal justice social work report and a risk assessment.
When he returned to court for sentence, Sheriff Thomas Millar said he was satisfied only custody was appropriate.
He reduced the sentence from two years to 18 months because of McVittie’s early guilty pleas.
The pensioner was also put on the sex offenders’ register.
