A Lanarkshire parents’ group is organising a car boot sale to raise money for a primary school.
Burnside Primary School Parent Council is hoping to raise much-needed funds with the event, as well as encourage people to have a cleanout.
The registered charity is planning to use the money raised to go towards enhancing children’s educational experiences with activities such as class trips, outdoor learning, and a gardening partnership with Grow 73.
The car boot sale is set to take place on Saturday, May 14, between 10am-2pm at Burnside Primary and everyone is welcome to attend.
Fiona Adamson, one of the organisers, told Lanarkshire Live: “This is our first ever car boot sale, we’re excited and hopefully it’ll be a success. We hope it can become a regular event in our school calendar.
“Now that life is back to normal, we were delighted to organise an event that would include all of the children and their families as well as the wider Burnside community.
“Our last event was at the start of 2020, so we’re really looking forward to being back together again.
“The idea for it came from our council members, Lisa Bedwell. Everyone loves a good clear out and if it helps raise funds for the school then that’s even better.
“It’s going to be a really fun day for everyone. There will be bargains galore available from the car boots, including a special stall from Sweet P. Paula, who is a local business owner. She always supports our fundraising events so we’re delighted she will be hosting a pitch.
“We’ll also have refreshments available courtesy of our Primary sevens who will be selling lots of home baking, snacks, and drinks to help raise funds for their leaver’s celebrations.”
Pitches for the car boot sale are still available and for anyone interested, they can email Fiona at parentcouncil@burnsideprimary.org.
