Lanarkshire online teaching organisation wins prestigious prize at Diversity Awards 2022

A Lanarkshire organisation which offers online teaching mirroring the Scottish P1 to S5 curriculum has triumphed at a top national awards ceremony.

Coatbridge based Scottish Online Lessons (SOL) scooped the hotly contested Diversity for Education honour at the Diversity Awards 2022 ceremony in Glasgow's plush Radisson Blu Hotel.

The accolade recognises "individuals and companies who are shining examples of diversity in action".

Kathleen Brennan, director of SOL, told Lanarkshire Live : "Diversity and inclusion are critical to ensuring everyone achieves their full potential and education is a key pillar for this to be a reality.

"For that reason, our company was created to ensure that the appropriate levels of support and additional support are available for Scottish schoolchildren, regardless of whether they have learning barriers to overcome, are looking to improve their grades, or simply need extra support for whatever reason.

"It goes without saying that we are absolutely thrilled and extremely proud to be honoured in this way, and it is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved with SOL that we have triumphed at these prestigious awards.

“We thank the event hosts, The Herald and GenAnalytics, for organizing these awards and are thankful also to SQA - the heart of Scotland's world-renowned education system - for sponsoring this important category."

Within the SOL platform, all lessons are presented in an easy-to-understand video format which has been written and presented by engaging and experienced teachers, making it the ideal “study-buddy” for pupils of all ages.

SOL is available for £5 per month and currently has thousands of Scottish pupils subscribing to online lessons.

The platform covers primary school literacy and numeracy from P1-P7, as well as nine subjects from S1-S5 including maths, English, biology, chemistry, physics, modern studies, history, geography and business management.

SOL’s online lessons are pre-recorded, accessible 24/7 and allow children to pause, rewind and replay every moment, meaning they can study at their own pace, in their own environment, in a way that best suits them.
