Lanarkshire officers step up hunt for hit and run driver after man hospitalised

Police in Lanarkshire are asking for help after a man was hospitalised in a hit and run.

The 32-year-old was struck by a car in Imperial Drive, Airdrie, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Cops confirmed with Lanarkshire Live that the driver of the vehicle “left the scene” prior to their arrival.

The incident happened around 1.10am on August 21 with the victim taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

DC Lisa McMullen told us: “We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“In particular, if anyone has a dash cam, please check your footage as you may have captured something that could assist our investigation.

“We are also keen to trace a man who came to the assistance of the injured pedestrian but left before officers were at the scene.

"We would like him to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
