A Hartwood woman has been recognised by her grateful daughter for "always going above and beyond" to support her family.
Nicola Amar praised her mother, Margaret Short, nominating her for the Wishaw Press 'Say It With Flowers' award.
Nicola told Lanarkshire Live : “My mum has just been the backbone of our family and is there for everybody all the time, especially during difficult times.
“She has been a nurse for many years and she has worked in a nursing home in Shotts since she retired for two nights a week.
“She is always looking after her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always has kids round about her.
“She does everything to help me all the time and I thought this would be a nice way to say thanks.”
The selfless mum-of-three, grandmother and great-grandmother, is a constant support to both her family and friends, especially her three daughters, Nicola, Karen and Pamela.
That has seen her spend much of her life caring for others as a nurse and continues to do so throughout her retirement.
“My mum is so strong and selfless and is always there for us. She has spent her life as a nurse caring for others and I would just like her to know how much we appreciate her,” Nicola added.
And when Nicola told us about her amazing mum, we were only too pleased to help out by surprising her at her home with a beautiful floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.
“I think she will be quite shocked but absolutely delighted to receive these flowers,” added Nicola.
