Lanarkshire mum's frantic appeal to trace missing 12-year-old son

A frantic appeal has been launched to help trace a missing 12-year-old schoolboy.

Caellin Gebbie, from East Kilbride, has not been seen by his family since being dropped off at school around 8.45am on Friday morning.

Now his distraught mother has launched a desperate plea for help in tracing her son.

Speaking to Lanarkshire Live this morning, Gillian Gebbie said: “I’m extremely worried, because this is so out of character for him.

“He’s just moved high school last week, so I don’t know his new group of friends.

“I dropped him off at school at 8.45am, but he didn’t go in. He was then seen on the school grounds around 3pm and left with a boy.

“They made off in the direction of Lickprivick Road and haven’t been seen since. He doesn’t have anything with him.

“He doesn’t have his phone, he has no money, keys, bus pass or inhaler.”

Gillian told us that Caeliin had been withdrawn recently following the passing of his Papa in January.

He was also forced to move school from Calderglen High School to Duncanrig Secondary following threats made to him and his brother.

When last seen, Caellin was wearing a black zip up Nike top, white shirt, black trousers and black Nike trainers.

Police Scotland are involved and are due to release an appeal for information later today.

Gillian added: “The police came round about 5pm and asked us some questions and then searched his room to see if there was anything that gave an idea to why he would go missing.

“They took his phone and said they are going to put up a social media post today.”

His emotional mother wants Caellin to know he is not any in trouble and that the family just want to see him return.

Speaking directly to him, she said: “Come home Caellin, please. Me and the boys just want you back safe.

“Please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident should contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
