Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson paid a visit to North Lanarkshire’s Neighbourhood Networks ahead of the organisation’s anniversary.
The charity currently has 28 networks across central Scotland, with four in Motherwell and Wishaw.
These networks support vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, disabled people, and those experiencing poor mental health.
The visit took place at the Maranatha Centre in Motherwell.
Ms Adamson said: “Neighbourhood Networks is doing wonderful work here in Motherwell and Wishaw. For 20 years the charity has been empowering people to live more independently and encouraging individuals to be active within the community.
“The organisation now has a global standing; it has attracted interest from across Europe and as far afield as New Zealand.
“The value of a peer support network has never been clearer after two years of increased isolation and separation from those that we love.
“Neighbourhood Networks will be hosting its first online conference from March 29 to March 31.
“It was fantastic to chat with volunteers and participants as part of their twentieth-anniversary celebration and I wish them the very best going forward.”
